Most Indian men own a bottle of sunscreen. Very few use it daily. The reasons are familiar. Dark skin does not need it. It only matters at the beach. It feels heavy. It makes the skin oily. There is no immediate burn so the damage is not real.

Every one of these reasons is factually incorrect, and the science that refutes them is decades old and thoroughly documented. UV radiation is responsible for approximately 80 percent of visible facial ageing. It is the single most significant driver of dark spots, collagen loss, and premature skin ageing. And India, across most of the country, for most of the year, has UV index levels classified as very high to extreme.

The Two Types of UV Radiation That Reach Your Skin
