What is Matrixyl 3000?
Matrixyl 3000 is a peptide blend used in anti-aging skincare, made up of two peptides working together: palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7. It is developed and trademarked by Sederma, the same company behind the related ingredient Matrixyl Synthe'6. Despite the similar name, Matrixyl 3000 is a different formulation. It combines two peptides rather than one, and it is generally described as targeting both collagen production and the skin's inflammatory response, rather than the six matrix components that Matrixyl Synthe'6 is designed to target.

How Does It Work?
The two peptides in Matrixyl 3000 act as chemical messengers that mimic small fragments naturally released when skin remodels its own support structure. When skin cells detect these fragments, they respond by ramping up production of collagen, one of the main proteins that keeps skin firm. One of the two peptides is also associated with calming the low-level inflammation that can accelerate visible skin aging over time, which is part of why this blend is often described as targeting both collagen and the skin's inflammatory environment, not collagen alone.
In a well-known 12-week clinical study, a related palmitoyl peptide formulation showed a measurable reduction in wrinkle depth and skin roughness. Separately, a randomized clinical trial that used Matrixyl 3000 as a comparison product found it reduced wrinkle volume compared to an untreated control serum, though by a smaller margin than the specific copper peptide formulation being tested in that study.
