What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule already found throughout the body, including in skin, joints, and eyes, where its main job is holding onto water. It is one of the most well-known and well-studied hydrating ingredients in skincare. Hyaluronic acid is included in INTOIT's Lip Restore SPF Lip Balm, where it helps keep the thin, delicate skin of the lips hydrated. It is not currently used in any of INTOIT's other products.

How Does It Work?
Hyaluronic acid works like a sponge, drawing in and holding onto water to keep skin, or in this case lips, feeling soft and hydrated. More than half of the hyaluronic acid in the body is found in skin, where it naturally decreases with age, which is part of why skin and lips can feel drier over time.
Its exact effect depends on the size of the molecule used. Larger hyaluronic acid molecules tend to sit on the surface, forming a light film that holds moisture in place, while smaller molecules can move into the upper layers of skin and support hydration a bit deeper down. In clinical research, smaller-molecule hyaluronic acid has shown a measurably greater improvement in skin hydration compared to larger-molecule versions after several weeks of consistent use.
