What is a Ceramide Triple Complex?
Ceramides are natural fats found in skin that help hold skin cells together and lock in moisture. A ceramide triple complex combines three types, typically Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, and Ceramide EOP, to closely match the mix of ceramides skin naturally has. Ceramides make up roughly half of the skin's protective lipid layer, so replenishing more than one type at once is designed to support the skin barrier more completely than using a single ceramide alone. This triple complex is included in INTOIT's Maximalist Moisturizer to help strengthen and hydrate the skin barrier.

How Does It Work?
Think of the outer layer of skin like a brick wall, where skin cells are the bricks and ceramides are part of the mortar holding everything together. Ceramides make up about half of this mortar, working alongside cholesterol and fatty acids to keep the wall intact. When ceramide levels drop, whether from aging, harsh weather, or strong actives like acids and retinol, that mortar weakens, moisture escapes more easily, and skin can feel dry, tight, or more reactive.
A ceramide triple complex replenishes three different types of ceramide at once, since real skin naturally contains a mix rather than just one type. Ceramide NP is the most abundant type in skin and the most studied, Ceramide AP is associated with calming reactive skin, and Ceramide EOP plays a structural role in keeping the lipid layers tightly organized. Together, they are designed to rebuild the barrier more completely than any single ceramide could on its own.
